The United States is pressuring Turkey and Israel to halt the indirect negotiations with Syria being held in Istanbul, diplomatic sources told the al-Bayan newspaper published Friday in the United Arab Emirates. Beat the dead horse, or Putin’s revenge (Pravda.ru - 22 Aug 08 - Russia) ... The old adage according to which time is the great equalizer holds sway in a special way in contemporary totalitarian America. Unlike the old-horse-beaten-until-it-drops-dead knows it is being beaten, our people are beaten in such a horrendously clinical manner that they do not even realize they are being beaten. Though aware of their mortality, gently beaten human beings however have come to resemble the whipped horse in that they do not seem to realize they are dying from the blows. The problem is there is little or no public opinion. And that collective memory is dead. This real Europe of Germany, France and Italy are not what imperialist neocon America dreamed of. Most certainly New World Order America didn’t count on a resurrected Russia capable of the re-conquest of lost territories of the Russian Empire and of a new relationship with Europe. Moreover, not even in its worst nightmare did America dream of exchanging its alliance with real Europe for a string of powerless satellites on the Baltic, or happy-go-lucky romantic Georgians. The question is, has the American public, busily drinking from the fount of NYT and Washington Post, CNN and Fox News, grasped the trap-like situation their arrogant, unrealistic, self-absorbed, narcissistic leaders have lead them into? For it is clear as day that a huge bill is falling due and the American people will ultimately have to pay it. Reuters.com - Pravda.ru

Europe The First Brzezinski War Casualty? (Rense.com - 21 Aug 08 - USA) ... Brzezinski's provocation in Georgia is producing a worldwide strategic realignment with the immediate emerging of two worldwide blocks marching toward a war confrontation. While the "old" Europe countries ( France , Germany , Italy ) are been pressured into the trap of "support for Georgia ," countries like Turkey are considering a dramatic change of strategic position. The countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (and its military alliance) are expected to upgrade their military deployment in response to Brzezinski criminal breaking of the present fragile world equilibria. Brzezinski strategy (now the hegemonic policy in Washington ) is aimed, first and foremost, at forcing the "old" Europe to surrender its economic, military, political resources, to the war machine that is supposed to confront Russia and China in the most destructive violent confrontation the world has ever seen. If this happens Europe will be the first war casualty. - Rense.com

Are You Ready For Nuclear War? By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS (CounterPunch.org - 19 Aug 08 - USA) ... When the Russian army went into Georgia to rescue the Russians in South Ossetia from the destruction being inflicted upon them by the American puppet Saakashvili, the Russians made it clear that if they were opposed by American troops with smart weapons, they would deal with the threat with tactical nuclear weapons. The Americans were the first to announce preemptive nuclear attack as their permissible war doctrine. Now the Russians have announced the tactical use of nuclear weapons as their response to American smart weapons. It is obvious that American foreign policy, with its goal of ringing Russia with US military bases, is leading directly to nuclear war. Every American needs to realize this fact. The US government’s insane hegemonic foreign policy is a direct threat to life on the planet. Paul Craig Roberts was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan administration. He was Associate Editor of the Wall Street Journal editorial page and Contributing Editor of National Review. - CounterPunch.org

U.S. presses Turkey to allow NATO forces’ deployment to Black Sea (Turks.us - 19 Aug 08) ... The United States is expected to pile pressure on Turkey to deploy permanent NATO navy forces for patrol missions in the organization's summit which would start in Brussels. Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan attended the meeting of 26 NATO foreign ministers that met in Brussels on Tuesday. The members are expected to reaffirm their support for Georgia and send a strong message to Russia without freezing out Moscow diplomatically. - Turks.us

Braking News: EASTERN UKRAINE is READY TO BREAK AWAY from KIEV! High Time! (Eldib.wordpress.com - 17 Aug 08) ... Last night I made a call to little town in Ukraine not to faraway from E-40”Interstate” road. The mood is grim and the aria (according to the people over there) is ready to receive Russian help and split from Kiev. They said that they do not like it one iota and that Kiev went too far by siding with Gruzia (Georgia) against Russia. No links here just a little of the conversation and the mood in there.
