News and Commentary about Killing AFGHANS

US to take over Afghan mission (TimesOnline.co.uk - 17 Aug 08 - UK)
...The United States is planning to take control of all military operations in Afghanistan next year with an Iraq-style troop surge after becoming frustrated at Nato’s failure to defeat the Taliban. Plans are being drawn up to send as many as 15,000 extra troops to Afghanistan with a single US general always in command, as in Iraq, defence sources said.

Three Aid Workers Killed in Afghan Attack (IHT.com - 14 Aug 08 - USA)
...Three Western women and an Afghan driver, all working for an American aid group, were killed just south of Kabul on Wednesday by men with automatic weapons, local officials and the aid group said. The Taliban took responsibility, asserting that the workers were not helping Afghanistan. (Question of the day: Why was the Afghan driver, who is clearly described as an aid worker in the first sentence of the article, not counted in the death toll in the headline of the story?)

News and Commentary about Killing IRAQIS

Sadr to disarm if U.S. withdraws on timetable (Reuters.com - 8 Aug 08 - USA)
...Anti-American Iraqi Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr would dissolve his Mehdi Army militia if the United States started withdrawing troops according to a set timetable, a spokesman said.

Letter linking Iraq and al-Qa'eda was forged by US spies says new book (Telegraph.co.uk - 5 Aug 08 - UK)
...The White House ordered the CIA to forge a hand-written letter from the head of Iraqi intelligence to Saddam Hussein fabricating a visit by an al-Qa'eda operative two months before the September 11th attacks, according to a new book.

News and Commentary about Killing IRANIANS

Christians United for Israel and Attacking Iran (FPIF.org - 18 Aug 08 - USA)
...The House’s Iran resolution, sponsored by Representative Gary Ackerman (D-NY), demands the president impose “stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains, and cargo entering or departing Iran.” This legislation effectively requires a blockade on Iran which is considered by international law as an act of war. The Senate’s Iran resolution, sponsored by Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN), would require a ban on “the importation of refined petroleum products to Iran.” Neither resolution offers evidence on Iran’s alleged pursuit of a nuclear weapon. Both neglect to mention any sanctions against the only country known to actually have developed nuclear weapons in the Middle East: Israel.

Iran warns against 'surprise attack' (PressTV - 13 Aug 08 - Tehran, Iran)
...Iran's Defense Minister Mohammad-Najjar has warned that its response to a surprise enemy attack would be a greater surprise for the aggressor. He said Iran has developed an extensive defense force to repel any possible attack, adding the Islamic Republic is currently a major defensive power.

News and Commentary about Killing OSSETIANS and RUSSIANS (with the Georgian puppets)

If NATO punishes Russia, Russia will punish NATO back (Pravda.ru - 19 Aug 08 - Russia)
...Russian experts believe that there can be only one positive outcome of the emergency NATO meeting for Russia. France, Italy, Slovakia, Turkey and several other countries interested in maintaining stable and normal relations with Russia may block the anti-Russian resolution...Russian experts hope that NATO will find itself lost in contradictions between Anglo-Saxon hawks and Old European doves. It is not ruled out, though, that Paris, Berlin and Rome may waver this time. The USA has made its allies face a tough choice – either the USA or Russia.

Washington's Hypocrisy (IHT.com - 18 Aug 08 - USA)
...The U.S. administration is trying to stick the label of "bad guy" on Russia for exceeding the peacekeeping mandate and using "disproportionate force" in the peace-enforcement operation in Georgia. Maybe our American friends have gone blind and deaf at the same time. Mikheil Saakashvili, the president of Georgia, is known as a tough nationalist who didn't hide his intentions of forcing Ossetians and Abkhazians to live in his country.

Why The West Has Got It So Wrong Over Georgia (TheHerald.co.uk - 18 Aug 08 - UK)
...One minute you're looking for South Ossetia on a map; the next everyone's talking about nuclear confrontation. The escalation of the conflict in the Caucasus into a kind of post-modern Cold War has been breathtaking. But great international conflicts have a habit of starting in "far-away places of which we know nothing": Sarajevo, Poland, Pearl Harbour and now South Ossetia.

Generalized, Ubiquitous TERROR

Double Standards in the Global War on Terror: Anthrax Department (TomDispatch.com - 18 Aug 08)
...For a nation already terrified by the attacks of September 11, 2001, the thought that a brutal dictator with weapons of mass destruction (who might even have turned the anthrax over to the terrorists) was ready to do us greater harm undoubtedly helped pave the way for an invasion of Iraq. The President would even claim that Saddam Hussein had the ability to send unmanned aerial vehicles to spray biological or chemical weapons over the east coast of the United States (drones that, like Saddam’s nuclear program, would turn out not to exist). Today, it’s hard even to recall just how terrifying those anthrax attacks were. According to a LexisNexis search, between Oct. 4 and Dec. 4, 2001, 389 stories appeared in the New York Times with “anthrax” in the headline.

End the Empire Now! Before It Falls (and takes a lot more human beings with it)! STOP THE KILLING! Wake up! Do something! Do anything!
